長崎市郊外の住宅団地に建つ一戸建ての計画である。

　周辺の住居群が「構え」を持たずに風景を形作る中で、本計画はあえて「構え」を持つという選択をした。ここでいう「構え」とは、環境を拒絶する閉鎖的なものではなく、無垢の杉材で構築した「中間体としての軒」による、建築としての意思表示である。

　この軒は、街に対しては住まいの輪郭を際立たせる盾となり、内部には深い庇に守られた安心感をもたらす。重要なのは、この中間領域を介して、住人が地域との関わりを能動的にコントロールできる点だ。季節の植栽をあしらったり、簾を下ろして光や視線を調整したりと、住み手の日々の設えが周辺環境に対する「構え」をその都度変化させ、街並みに新たな彩りを添えていく。

　意図的な「構え」を持ちながらも、素材の温もりと住み手の暮らしが重なることで、住まいは周辺環境を分断することなく、曖昧だった風景の中に豊かな焦点をもたらす。


This is a design for a single-family residence in a suburban housing development in Nagasaki.

While the surrounding houses create a landscape devoid of any formal "kamae" (architectural presence/posture), this project intentionally chooses to embrace it. Here, "kamae" does not signify a defensive enclosure that rejects the environment; rather, it is a statement of architectural intent, expressed through "eaves as an intermediary" constructed from solid cedar.

These eaves act as a shield that defines the outline of the house against the street, while providing a sense of security and sanctuary for those beneath them. Crucially, this intermediate space allows the residents to actively modulate their engagement with the neighborhood. Through daily gestures—such as tending to seasonal plants or adjusting blinds to control light and views—the residents subtly alter the "kamae" of the home, bringing new layers of color to the streetscape.

By combining this intentional "kamae" with the warmth of natural materials and the texture of daily life, this house avoids fragmenting its surroundings, instead becoming a presence that brings a rich focus to an otherwise ambiguous landscape.
